continues on dog attacking boy

IRONWOOD -- The case of a three-year-old boy
attacked by a dog in Ironwood last Tuesday
is still under investigation.
Ethan Aijala is recovering at home with
stitches after a dog latched onto his head
while playing outside.
The dog has since been euthanized and is now
being tested for rabies.
The Ironwood Police along with animal
control are still investigating to determine
if a citation should be issued.

On Oct. 31, Lakewood police received a fax
from St. Anthony Central Hospital on a dog
bite that occurred in the 700 block of South
Otis Street on Oct. 29. The woman with the
dog bite told police she was jogging in the
area when three dogs charged at her. One of
the dogs, a collie mix, bit her on the knee
and on the back of her left calf. An officer
met with the owners of the dogs on Nov. 1
and observed that the dogs were
well-mannered. The owners, a 53-year-old man
and a 52-year-old woman, said the dogs are
left outside occasionally and that they stay
on the property, but they said they plan to
build a fence. The owners were issued
summonses on suspicion of possession of an
aggressive animal and animals running at
large.

Bangkok - Two dogs attacked and killed a
disabled Thai women who was in the habit of
hitting them with a stick, media reports
said Wednesday. Tun Chomchuen, 45, was found
dead Tuesday with the skin stripped off her
face and head after being attacked by two
Bang Kaew dogs, a Thai breed, at a horse
farm in Buddhamondhol district on Nakorn
Pathom province, 60 kilometres west of
Bangkok.
Tun's husband, Shen Inkong, revealed that
his wife, disabled in the right arm, was in
the habit of hitting the dogs.
"I never imagined this would happen but my
wife usually carried around a stick and hit
these dogs," Shen told The Nation newspaper.
He speculated that the attack might have
been prompted by some pork ribs his wife was
carrying.
The Bang Kaew dog breed, from Phitsanulok
province, are famed in Thailand for their
fierceness and devotion to their masters.
