State Bills to support...

If you live in these States,  please take the time to contact your Representative or Senator and express your desire for them to support these bills.  Have family and friends do the same.

Both bills would make it illegal for insurance companies to cancel insurance

policy based on breed.

South Carolina General Assembly - Bill S0234

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 38-75-795 SO AS TO PROHIBIT THE DENIAL, CANCELLATION, OR NONRENEWAL OF HOMEOWNERS INSURANCE BASED SOLELY ON THE PRESENCE OF ONE OR MORE DOMESTICATED DOGS ON THE HOMEOWNERS' PREMISES, UNLESS A SPECIFIC DOG ON THE PREMISES HAS A DOCUMENTED HISTORY OF CAUSING SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE TO REAL OR PERSONAL PROPERTY OR SERIOUS BODILY INJURY TO A PERSON.

OHIO - House Bill 366

Is currently before the House of Representatives.  If passed, H.B. 366 will, among other things, remove pit bulls and pit bull types from the definition of vicious dog in the State of Ohio.  The assigned Committee will hear testimony in support of H.B. 366 on Wednesday, January 23, 2008 at 2:30 p.m. at the Capital Building in Columbus, Ohio, Room 114.  Obviously, the more Ohioans who show up to support the bill, the better its chances of passing.

I know Wednesday is a work day, but this is sooooo important because it is our first real chance to have our voices heard in support of these wonderful dogs.  If you can, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE show up in Columus on the 23rd and let them know that we will not let them damn these dogs without a fight.  There is power in numbers, so pass this along to everyone and anyone in Ohio who may want to be there.

Missouri - SB 886

The Missouri state Senate currently has a bill in committee that would repeal BSL statewide, and make it so individual communities cannot enact BSL!  Please add it to your state bills page so we can get as much support for the bill as possible.  Bill information is at: http://www.senate.mo.gov/08info/bts_web/Bill.aspx?SessionType=R&BillID=6182

 Bill Summary:

SB 886 - This act allows any city, town, or village to adopt ordinances, orders, or regulations to control dangerous dogs, provided that no such ordinances, orders, or regulations are specific to breed. Ordinances, orders, or regulations addressing specific breeds of dogs adopted prior to August 28, 2008, shall be deemed invalid.
